In the Corporate Social Responsibility Index competition organized for the eighth consecutive time by the Croatian Sustainable Development Business Council (HR PSOR) and the Croatian Chamber of Commerce (HGK), Valamar Riviera d.d. won the Corporate Social Responsibility Index Award for responsible environmental management policies and practices. The award was accepted at the ceremony in Zagreb by Ivana Budin Arhanić, Valamar Riviera’s Vice President in Charge of Business Development, Strategic Management and Corporate Affairs.
“Valamar Riviera has been successfully operating in Croatia’s tourism sector for six decades now, and corporate social responsibility is a part of our tradition, because tourism is not sustainable over the long term without development and investment in local communities, as well as the systematic protection of the Adriatic coastal belt and its overall environment. However, it is a major challenge to realize the full potential of the positive impact that a large company such as ours can have if it is committed to responsible operations as the regular and only way of doing business. This valuable award encourages us to continue this process. We have invested over HRK 12 million in energy efficiency over the past three years, and we incorporate efficient and ecologically advanced technologies to major investments as a matter of course. We also make every effort to educate our employees, guests and vendors and raise community awareness of the importance of environmental protection,” said Ivana Budin Arhanić, the Vice President in Charge of Business Development, Strategic Management and Corporate Affairs.
Valamar’s hotels, apartment complexes, and campsites have received numerous international certificates and recognition pertaining to environmental protection, and the Corporate Social Responsibility Index Award for responsible environmental management policies and practices is the crowning achievement of all previous efforts to confirm our commitment to corporate social responsibility as the leading tourism company in Croatia.
