Valamar continues its “Easy as one, two, tree” initiative this season, inviting guests to make a donation for the planting of new trees, while the company commits to plant an additional tree for each donated one. With this donation campaign, Valamar encourages guests to reduce their carbon footprint and contribute to the preservation of forests in Croatia. So far, over 12,000 trees have been planted through the “Easy as one, two, tree” initiative, and in 2024, Valamar plans to plant 10,000 new trees.

„Our guests are delighted with this initiative, they are very happy to get involved in the campaign, so the results are excellent. Last year, we exceeded our goal of planting 9,000 new trees two months earlier than planned, and this year we decided to further increase the targeted number of newly planted trees by a thousand. In addition to reforesting Croatia, we raise awareness of the importance of preserving the environment, and, by planting new trees, we reduce our carbon footprint with the aim of further decarbonizing our business," said Tea Pestotnik Prebeg, Director of the Quality and Sustainability Sector at Valamar.

Valamar launched the “Easy as one, two, tree” initiative in collaboration with CO2MPENSATING BY PLANTING, an initiative of the Scout Association of Croatia, Croatian Forests, and the HEARTH agency, which aims to enable companies, cities, and municipalities to neutralize their carbon footprint by planting trees.

Valamar takes care of more than 80,000 trees in its destinations, and through this donation campaign, it has been made possible to plant new ones, which have been planted in the past two years in Split-Dalmatia and Karlovac County. This year's campaign is open to guests of Valamar hotels, resorts and campsites in Poreč, Rabac, Makarska, Dubrovnik and on the islands of Krk and Rab from 15 July to 15 October 2024.

A focus on sustainable tourism and corporate social responsibility with a focus on renewable green energy sources, waste management, locally produced food and sustainability in the supply chain is a prerequisite for holiday tourism that is good for destinations, employees, guests and local communities.
