“Caring for our employees and the local community is part of our corporate culture and corporate social responsibility. This year we have joined this UNICEF program and participated in workshops focusing on children's rights and the business sector. Furthermore, we decided to incorporate this initiative into our corporate Family day. Our Family day is an opportunity for our little ones to spend time with their parents and peers,” said Ivana Budin Arhanić, Vice President of Business Development and Corporate Affairs.
This year Valamar has supported Kids Takeover Day, a global UNICEF initiative that is part of the World Children's Day celebrated on November 20. This event marks the anniversary of the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, under which every child has the right to live and be raised in a family, have a nationality and receive education. Croatia is also one of the signatory states.
For this occasion, children across the world take over key roles in media, politics, business, sports and other industries to voice their support for millions of their peers who are unschooled, unprotected and uprooted. Kids Takeover Day is a fun day carrying a serious message: children present the greatest challenges that their generation faces and stand up for their rights in order to fulfill their potential.
When joining this program, Valamar Riviera hosted its corporate Family day at its destinations in December, during which children could learn about their parents’ workplace. For this occasion, Valamar organized shows and workshops for children and their parents as well as presents for children, who used their creativity and showed in their drawings how to make the world a better place.
