This designation was made in cooperation with the Croatian Chamber of Commerce and vocational guilds, and it is granted in compliance with the Rules governing the conferral of quality designations to hospitality establishments with the aim of encouraging excellence and awarding and promoting high-quality hotels. The Rules stipulate stringent criteria for receiving the “Q” mark, and the relevant measures include satisfaction of employees and guests, operations which comply with environmental standards and mandatory procedures, cooperation on the hotel’s part in the fields of tourist destination management, education, environmental protection, public health and heritage.

“The competitiveness of Croatian tourism was in the focus of the Ministry of Tourism’s interest in this term in office, and quality was in fact one of the key elements in its enhancement”, Minister of Tourism Darko Lorencin stressed, pointing out that all of the Ministry’s activities were ultimately aimed at improving Croatia’s ranking on the competitiveness scale. The Minister added that the purpose of this symbol is to create market recognisability, and to encourage and reward hotels that have set high parameters above market standards, and have also proven that they know how to manage this quality.

“This recognition, and numerous others won by Valamar’s hotels and campsites, as well as our employees, serve as proof of our strategic commitment to continuously invest in quality and excellence of the services we provide. We welcome this initiative, because symbols such as ‘Q’ engender recognition and trust in the excellence of hotels by guests, which is extremely important on the market,” said Željko Kukurin, president of the Management Board of Valamar Riviera d.d.

The quality mark conferred to the Hotel Valamar Riviera 4* and Villa Parentino 4* in Poreč is the first  certificate of that kind awarded after the trial period for applying the rules. The exclusive club of hotels which have passed through the rigorous evaluation process and earned this mark also includes Valamar’s Hotel Valamar Lacroma Dubrovnik 4* and the hotels Monte Mulini 5* in Rovinj and Le Meriden Lav 5* in Split (Podstrana).
