The TUI Environmental Champion 2017 Award is a recognition of continual commitment to sustainability and environmental protection

Poreč, 21 June 2017- Two Dubrovnik hotels, the Valamar Dubrovnik President and Valamar Lacroma Dubrovnik, the Valamar Koralj Romantic on the island of Krk, the Valamar Club Tamaris in Poreč, and the Valamar Sanfior in Rabac are the only Croatian hotels that from this season carry the widely recognized TUI Environmental Champion 2017 green label (TUI Umwelt Champion).

Every year since 1996, this tour operator has been singling out hotels that work particularly hard to protect the environment and exercise their social responsibility. About 200 hotels across various destinations in the world that conform to strict criteria defining sustainable management and corporate responsibility receive this recognition every year.  To participate, hotels must hold a valid Sustainability Certificate recognized by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC). The winners are announced after the official assessment that particularly takes into account guest opinion expressed in regular TUI questionnaires.

For TUI, sustainability is crucial: recent studies confirm that an increasing number of their guests look for hotels that integrate sustainability and environmental protection in their operations. As stated by TUI, their environmental champions offer regional, seasonal and organic meals; they use native plants in their hotel gardens, support projects in the local community, use renewable energy sources and organic products.
