Valamar RIviera, the leading tourism company in Croatia, in collaboration with the “Znanje na djelu“ foundation , enabled a two-day educational visit for 59 students and 16 teachers as part of the program “Exploring the world of work“. This is the first time a project like this has been carried out in Croatia.

Eight high schools from Zagreb accepted the foundation's invitation extended to high school juniors and seniors to visit the largest tourism company in Croatia operating the destinations Poreč; Rabac, Krk and Dubrovnik and learn firsthand about careers in tourism and hospitality. The Zagreb Hotel and Tourism School, the I gymnasium, the IV gymnasium, the Linigra –private school with public right, the First private gymnasium with public right, the Sports gymansium, the Tourism gymnasium and the X gymnasium “Ivan Supek“. The students and teachers were presented a comprehensive educational program during which, in the course of two days, students and teachers at Poreč's Valamar Club Tamaris 4*, had the opportunity to learn about different professions in hospitality: from F&B, animation, sports, call center, marketing and sales as well as other central departments. Students participated in interactive workshops: the non-alcoholic cocktail, animation and pasta making workshops proved to be the most popular.

“This is the first project in which we collaborate with the Znanje na djelu foundation, which is an addition to all the valuable initiatives in Valamar Riviera related to establishing partnerships and collaboration with educational institutions and promoting tourism and hospitality careers to young generations. We are very pleased with the students' expressed interest for pursuing a future career at Valamar Riviera. We currently offer a scholarship program for high school students training for tourism and hospitality professions. We have 200 available scholarships through which we will ensure the summer work experience and employment after high school to successful applicants. This is a great example of cooperation between educational institutions and businesses. Students will soon have to make very important education and career decisions, and they are often unaware of the possibilities that the market offers, they are not familiar with all the career choices and actually do not know how things are done in the business world. During these two days, they had the opportunity to meet professionals from different areas in hospitality and learn about their experiences, see their enthusiasm and find out about their hidden talents in various workshops. We believe that it will be of great help to them when making career choices. Judging from the feedback received from students, we expect that some of them will definitely choose a career in hospitality“, Daška Domljan, memeber of the Memeber of the foundation's  Management Board, concluded.

The collaboration with the Znanje na djelu foundation has been carried out as part of one of the eight corporate social responsibility programs in Valamar Riviera. Valamar invests 2.5% of its revenues in CSR activities and projects. The program „“Knowledge to Excel in Tourism“ is focused on a continual collaboration with vocational schools and colleges and it represents a significant contribution  to the development of knowledge, skills and education, not to mention the promotion of hospitality careers.
