Valamar Riviera Named Top Employer in Tourism
The largest Croatian tourism company Valamar Riviera has made the list of TOP employers in Croatia again this year. Based on the votes of more than 25,000 respondents, Valamar ranked ninth on the list, which is five positions higher than last year and is the only tourism company on the TOP employers in Croatia list for the fifth consecutive year. Moj Posao conducted the survey in 2021 and 2022.
“Valamar is the top employer in Croatian tourism for the fifth consecutive year due to our continuous investments and because employees come first. Despite the effects of the crisis, we have increased the salaries and awards for all employees. This year, we will invest around HRK 100 million in salaries and awards. We have also invested HRK 140 million in quality employee housing for seasonal workers over the last five years. We strive to remain the TOP employer as we continue to innovative and offer greater flexibility to our employees, a work–life balance in all our destination and numerous other benefits as part of our “Prvi s razlogom” initiative”, said Ines Damjanić, Vice President of Human Resources at Valamar Riviera.
As of this year, Valamar has raised the salaries for professional occupations in hotels, camps and resorts, determined to provide salaries closer to leading EU destinations.
Salaries for professional positions, including chefs, waiters, specialist technicians and receptionists at Valamar have increased by an average of 14%, and their income will be between EUR 1,000 and 1,600 net per month. The Valamar guarantee for housekeepers, assistant chefs, assistant waiters, kitchen workers, waiters and many others will increase to a monthly amount of EUR 750 to 1,100 net. In addition to raising basic wages, Valamar will continue its awarding excellence programs. Last year, employees received a “13th and 14th salary of EUR 1500, depending on how long and successfully they worked.
For this season, Valamar has created additional programs with the aim of improving employee satisfaction. The "Flexi job" program provides employees in hotels, camps, and resorts with two days off a week, allows them to work in one shift, and adjust work obligations to the needs of employees, all to better balance private and business life. In addition to quality accommodation and food for all employees who come to work from other parts of Croatia, the "Living Destination" program offers employees discounts at more than three hundred outlets. In addition, they can use destination entertainment such as excursions or sports activities to get to know the destination and spend quality and fun time outside of working hours.
Valamar has developed an internal education and training program for all employees where they can acquire invaluable skills for working in tourism and the hospitality industry. Valamar Excellence is a life-long education program divided into Valamar Education (V-Executive and V-Professional programs) and Valamar Training (V-Academy, V-Lead, V-Start and V-Intern programs).
