On the Poreč waterfront, the Jadran Heritage Hotel 5*, Valamar Collection, has opened its doors. This new boutique hotel is located in the restored historic building of the former Hotel Jadran, originally built in 1913. Alongside the hotel, the long-anticipated restaurant JAZ by Ana Roš has also opened. JAZ represents the recognizable young dining concept of one of the world’s most esteemed chefs whose restaurant Hiša Franko holds three Michelin stars. Here, fine gastronomy meets a relaxed atmosphere, with a menu based on seasonal and locally sourced ingredients. Located on the ground floor of the hotel, JAZ by Ana Roš is conceived as an open and vibrant space that follows the daily rhythm of the city. It is open not only to hotel guests but also to the local community, further positioning Jadran as a new meeting point on the Poreč waterfront.
Situated in the very heart of the old town, Jadran Heritage Hotel is envisioned as an intimate and elegant boutique property with 12 exclusive designer rooms. The interior blends original architectural elements with contemporary design and artistic details, highlighting the hotel’s individual character and historical value. Each room is conceived as a distinct unit and, instead of numbers, carries its own name and story inspired by the history of Poreč, its rhythm, and its seaside way of life. Names such as Lungomare, Kartolina, and Meer und Leben evoke different layers of the city’s identity and a time when the sun, the sea, and travel were integral to the culture of leisure and wellbeing, and when postcards served as a means of communication and connection. Through this subtle storytelling approach, a stay at Jadran transcends classic hotel accommodation and becomes a contemporary interpretation of one of Poreč’s most important architectural and social landmarks deeply rooted in the destination’s identity, gourmet offering, and seaside lifestyle.
“With the opening of Jadran Heritage Hotel, we wanted to bring new life to one of the most recognizable buildings on the Poreč waterfront, while creating a space dedicated equally to guests and to the city. Jadran is conceived as a vibrant meeting place where history, contemporary design, and top-tier gastronomy naturally complement one another. Our collaboration with Ana Roš and the JAZ by Ana Roš concept further confirms our long-term focus on developing Poreč as a year-round gourmet destination,” said Željko Kukurin, President of the Management Board of Valamar.
Ana Roš emphasized that JAZ by Ana Roš Poreč holds a special place in her personal and professional story: “JAZ by Ana Roš is conceived as a space without rigid rules, a place where people gather because of food, conversation, and a sense of togetherness. Istria has been part of my culinary language from the very beginning, and I see JAZ Poreč as a natural continuation of that story – a meeting point of sea and land, tradition and modernity, a restaurant that is at once lively, relaxed, and serious about what it does.”
The opening of Jadran Heritage Hotel and JAZ by Ana Roš forms part of Valamar’s broader investment in developing Poreč as a premium gourmet destination, through carefully selected collaborations with leading names from the international and regional culinary scene and the creation of authentic concepts that position the city as a meeting point of haute cuisine and the Mediterranean way of life.
